Question by : What is the best university courses for Photography in NZ?
I understand that photography will probably fit under a bachelor of design or fine arts but want to know were the best course for this is? I also have the option of going to Melbourne for uni but don’t really know how it all work, commonwealth grants ect… I will put in an application to Massey (Wellington) with a portfolio, any helpful advice for the portfolio would help. Thanks

I want to be able to change my backgrounds in digital photos and change colors and cut and crop and do all this fun photo-editing stuff with my digital photos. Is there a FREE-downloadable program??
I already have Picasa, which isnt what I’m looking for (it doesnt have enough options) and I really liked Fotofunia.

You can edit pictures with GIMP (free) or Paint.net (free) you can edit with colors, crop and such it’s just like photoshop…just free lol.

seeing as photography is a hobby and people say im good. i was looking at entering a few contests but the ones i’ve found seem pretty sketchy.

Why not join a local Photography Club and enter their competitions, they will soon tell you if you are good or not, and why. Or just go along to any of their exhibitions and see how your pictures would hold up against theirs.
Or put a portfolio together and try selling them to a local gallery, they will give you chapter and verse on why they are rejected or accepted.

They probably mean a film SLR, but you should check with the instructor. Only they can answer your question properly. Some courses are forgoing the film cameras and going straight to digital. It’s a shame really, film is such a nice medium.
